4x5 Negative, 10 Minute Exposure

ABOUT
Founded in 2020 by artists Justin James King and Leah Koransky, Deep Time Press is an independent publisher rooted in limited-edition photographic books and prints. Exploring temporal scales, geography, and material histories, the press produces work connected thematically by concepts of time and place.

Deep Time Press celebrates work that embraces cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural research as an essential component of the artistic process, publishing both the founders' creative work and that of their collaborators. Guided by the potential for books, prints, and other media to serve as an active space for dialogue, the press views publishing as a site where concepts, questions, and actions can be exchanged.

Their publications are in the permanent collections of The Bancroft Library (Berkeley, CA), The Tate Library (London, UK), The National Gallery of Art Library (Washington, DC), Biblioteka Library (London, UK), SFMOMA Library (San Francisco, CA), The Minneapolis College of Art and Design Library (Minneapolis, MN), and The Archives / Peter van Beveren Library (the Hague), amongst others.

LOCATION
We are located in Berkeley, California, which sits on the territory of xučyun (Huichin), the ancestral and unceded land of the Chochenyo speaking Ohlone people.

We use part of our income to pay a voluntary land tax, or Shuumi, to the Sogorea Te’ Land Trust. Learn more here. We also donate regularly to the Mono Lake Committee, a grassroots non-profit organization working to protect Mono Lake.
